Crane/Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Charleston, South Carolina

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Repair Marine and Heavy Civil Contractor’s equipment fleet.
  • Manage preventative maintenance program for entire equipment fleet including land based, floating cranes, and other assets.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair lattice boom crawler (friction and/or hydraulic) cranes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot any malfunctions to equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, complete repairs and test equipment as needed (i.e., hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems and components).
  • Manage and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and follow driving guidelines for assigned company vehicle.
  • Complete all paperwork thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
  • Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as required by Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be journeyman level mechanic with minimum five (5) years construction crane and heavy equipment repair and maintenance experience.
  • Five (5) years of crane and winch repair experience (Manitowoc and American repair experience desired).
  • Five (5) years of experience in engine repairs (Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, Detroit Diesel, etc.).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred NCCCO certification, OSHA Certified Mobile Crane Inspector, OSHA Assembly/Disassembly Director certification.
  • Must have strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to use technical equipment manuals in either digital or paper format to trouble shoot, order parts and perform repairs.
  • Must have computer skills and experience with computer diagnostics of diesel and gas engines.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems preferred.
  • Must have welding skills associated with equipment repairs.

Pile Driver Foreman – Charleston, South Carolina

Reports To: Project Superintendent

Job Type: Full Time/Hourly

Position Summary

  • Must be able to manage crew to set rig and set piles (square and round concrete piles, steel pipe piles) in the proper location and drive them to grade using hydraulic, diesel, or vibratory hammers.
  • Must have proper knowledge of using and maintaining any type of power equipment required to fulfill job description.
  • Must understand and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures while performing job duties and directing crew.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years’ experience in foreman position.
  • Manage Pile Driving Crew.
  • Handle, attach, and remove rigging from piling, pile hammer, and hammer leads.
  • Operates winches to align barge at proper location.
  • Install and remove pile templates.
  • Operate pile hammers.
  • Signal cranes.
  • Cut off piles at proper elevation.
  • Work from heights (pile drivers will typically be required to climb pile driving leads or work out of a manlift wearing fall protection.
  • Rigging and signaling certification preferred.

  • Understand construction safety standards and productively work safely.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

NCCCO Crane Operator – Charleston, South Carolina

Reports To: Crew Foreman / Project Superintendent

Job Type: Full Time/Hourly

Position Summary

  • Must be certified on Lattice Boom Crawler Crane (LBCR) & Telescopic Boom Crane (TLL) with 7+ years of experience as an operator on Marine/Heavy Civil construction projects.
  • Must be prepared to assist crew(s) as required to determine lift safety and hands-on work outside of machine operation.

Qualifications:

  • NCCCO Certified
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with pile driving and critical lifts.
  • Proficiency in pre-shift inspections and able to identify mechanical issues.
  • Industry level knowledge of crane safety and work site hazards
  • Ability to operate both hydraulic and friction cranes.

  • Construction of marine/heavy civil scopes of work includes pile driving, concrete formwork, and heavy lifts.

Qualifications:

  • Prior Construction and rigging experience preferred.
  • Carpentry, barge work, machine skills preferred.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of hand and power tools.
